9:00 – 9:30 (Introductory Slide/Lecture)
Children learn best when their senses are fully engaged in hands-on, self directed activities. Learn the value of sensory play and tactile experiences in early childhood education. Discover easy, inexpensive ways to add more tactile, sensory play to your classroom along with practical tips on managing the "mess" of fluid, sensory materials. |
9:30 – 10:30 (Hands-On / Power Point)
Learn how to facilitate open ended science activities where children play, discover and learn principles of science while having fun. Interact with sensory materials as the instructor demonstrates six science activities that combine everyday household materials with fluid paints and simple art supplies. Experiment first-hand with each process on your own, and learn the science behind each activity. Includes handouts & written lesson plans. |
10:30 – 11:30 (Hands-On)
Learn developmentally appropriate math sequences and how sensory activities like cooking, gardening, science and art play a key role in early math readiness. Experiment with new ways to use pattern cards, shape sorters and a wide variety of math readiness tools that engage children’s senses and help develop positive attitudes about math. Also, discover how to introduce healthy eating habits with cooking activities and how to approach snacks and food preparation with math readiness in mind. |
11:30 – 12:00 (Small Group / Hands-On)
Combine math, science, art and sensory play in a small group, collaborative art experience that will leave you feeling creative, refreshed and de-stressed. |
