Our first 4th of July craft is a patriotic necklace that you can wear to celebrate Independence Day! This craft is great for preschoolers and only takes about 15 minutes. For this craft you will need plain wooden beads, red white and blue paint, brushes, and yarn or a cord.

Step 1: Paint each of the beads either red white or blue and then allow them all to dry.

Step 2: Cut a piece of yarn or cord to your desired length for stringing the beads and then place a strip of tape at one end of the yarn or cord to keep the beads from falling off.

Step 3: When the beads are dry, begin stringing the beads in the order of red, white and blue or any other desired pattern.

Step 4: Once all of the desired beads are strung on, remove the tape and tie the two ends together in a knot and begin wearing your patriotic necklace!

Step 1: Gather 9 to 10 pipe cleaners for each of the headbands.

Step 2: Start by making the base of the headband by twisting the ends of the pipe cleaner together to make a circle.

Step 3: Make the “fireworks” by twisting 2 pipe cleaners together to make an “x” shape and then wrapping the bottom of each around the circle of the headband.

Step 4: To further support the “fireworks”, connect them with a pipe cleaner to the circle of the headband and the “firework”!

Step 4: Continue adding “fireworks” to the headband until satisfied with the effect. Place headband on top of head and celebrate Independence Day!

Step 1: This activity can be done with any number of craft sticks you would like and it can also be done using smaller craft sticks for smaller flags.

Step 2: Lay out the unpainted craft sticks in the flag size that you want.

Step 3: To begin painting the flag, decide where the blue block for the stars will be and then paint that section blue.

Step 4: When you finish the blue block, begin painting each of the sticks while alternating between red and white and then let the sticks dry completely.

Step 5: Once the sticks are dry, turn the sticks over and glue another stick vertically on the backs of all the other sticks on the right edge to secure the painted sticks in place.
