an activity for all preschoolers:
Everyone's a winner with these dazzling medals!

before you begin:
Discuss with the children how the Olympics work and which athletes get 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. You'll need the following materials: wood photo ornaments, glue, glitter, paint, brushes, construction paper and glitter glue.

activity goals:
To create a wearable craft to role-play Olympic winners in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places!

Let children choose a medal to create or create all three. Optionally, create a layer of gold, silver and bronze to represent all three medals on one.

let's get started

step 1
Remove the backing and plastic cover from the ornament.
step 2
Brush the ornament with glue and cover it with gold, silver or bronze glitter; or, paint the medal with metallic activity paint.
step 3
Allow the medal to dry.
step 4
Create a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place marker circles that fits into the photo-holder. Then, cut them out.
step 5
Once the ornament is dry, insert the place marker circles into the medal and replace the backing.
step 6
Replace the ornament holder with ribbon to make the medal complete and ready to wear!
