Creating Mental Health Awareness
With issues in the media like social pressures, children may sometimes feel afraid and experience stress on a daily basis. Cultivating mental health awareness is more important than ever and you can help young children learn good mental health practices with tools, resources, and supplies from Discount School Supply. Young students can learn to cultivate a positive frame of mind with the Growth Mindset Kit that includes a Ready-to-Decorate® 3-D bulletin board set along with coordinating pencils, folders, and journals. This kit will help children learn that mistakes are opportunities for growth and that believing you're not good at something can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Children can also benefit from the calming effects of yoga and mindfulness learning with the Excellerations® Anti-Slip Set of 14 Yoga Pose Activity Pads. This kit includes photos of young children doing yoga poses that students can try for themselves.

The Mindful Classrooms™: Daily 5-Minute Practices to Support Social-Emotional Learning is a set of focusing activities for children of pre-kindergarten age up to fifth grade. This item may also be purchased in a bundled kit that includes many different tools aimed at helping children understand their emotions and how to self-regulate their behavior.

Nurturing Self Calm
One of the most important mental health lessons that a child can learn is to nurture and develop self-calming practices. The Calming Jar Kit from Discount School Supply includes 6 jars that kids can fill with fun expanding polymer orbs as well as glitter and Pearl Swirl powder to make interesting patterns as they swirl the jars. Children can stop and focus on the beautiful patterns in the jars when they need to take a moment or two away from a stressful situation.

You can also give children ideas for how to handle frustration with Frustration Cards that display a variety of ways in which they can process and let go of frustration and move on with the day. Discount School Supply offers a wide variety of learning tools that you can use in the classroom to help young children learn to calm down and deal with the sometimes overwhelming stressors that life can present.
