My preschool LOVES this toy
My son is in FT preschool and has always loved playing with the Magna Tiles (he calls them magna blocks) at school. My husband and I heard about them all the time as well as requests to buy them for him at home. He is 4 1/2, but he has loved playing with these since age 3 (just now his structures ar...e much more complex). I looked online to see how much they were and was shocked--so expensive for what seems like a rather simple toy. However, I read some reviews where parents were saying the same thing I had experienced with our son at school--their kids just loved the toy, played with it consistently, and were able to build really creative things. I looked on eBay, Craigslist, Amazon, and several other websites, and I found the best deal on Discount School Supply. I also opted for the 100-piece because I had heard from my son's teachers that the smaller set does not allow the kids to have enough pieces and enough of a variety of pieces to really build the complicated structures that they like to build. So we went with the 100-piece. And my son LOVES it! He will beeline to his table with the Magna Tiles consistently after school and even on Saturday mornings to play with them. Excellent purchase--highly recommend--my husband and I love the creativity and pre-engineering type skills that this toy seems to promote along with cause-effect, trial-error, puzzle-type skills. Just a great toy--worth the money definitely. Also, just a note--our son really prefers the colored translucent tiles to the opaque ones that are also offered--he has some of both at school and the translucent are much "cooler.

My grandchildren love this product. Regardless of gender or age, Magna-Tiles are a hit. I bought a second set as the youngest, age 2, is now wanting to play, too. This set grows with the child. The 2 year old is just learning to construct shapes (houses, towers, etc), while the 7 year old builds more complex projects, such as air craft carriers, rock crushers, barns with fences, etc. Even my 5 year old granddaughter gets in on the action. She loves building, as well as loves the colors. I cannot think of any negative comments except the price. They are expensive, but well worth what I paid!

One of the teachers at my son's school has a smaller set of these and we played with them once and I was hooked. I purchased the bigger set so there would be enough for my kids to share.
