Compare and Contrast
An Activity for Preschoolers:
A STEM activity promoting Science.

Before You Begin:
Make sure to clear enough space on a flat surface for children to do this activity.

Activity Goals:
To support observation skills.

Use the timer sets to indicate a time limit in the classroom. For example, turn a time over and challenge the children to have the room clean before the timer finishes.

Have each child select a liquid timer.
Let the timers drip and have children make observations.
As a group, ask each child to identify and discuss characteristics of their timers.
Write their responses down on a chart.
Repeat for various times.
Another option is to have children guess the amount of time each liquid timer set has. Use a stopwatch to determine real time.
