Light Table Color Sort
An Activity for Preschoolers:
A STEM activity that promotes color classification.

Before You Begin:
Precut tissue paper into squares and place them on the light table. Choose other colored translucent objects which allow light to pass through when placed on a light table.

Activity Goals:
To help children identify and recognize different colors.

Using the precut tissue paper squares, encourage the children to match to the colors when they place the squares on the light table.
When the children have had success with the tissue paper, have them go around your home or classroom to find objects that match each color on the light table, or introduce the additional items that you have collected.
If the children are ready to learn about print, use the chart tablet to list each color and the matching objects.
