Window Building
An Activity for Preschoolers:
A STEM activity that supports engineering skills.

Before You Begin:
Make sure there is enough space near a window for children to move around. Move any furniture if necessary. This activity should be done when there is daylight.

Activity Goals:
To teach organization and building.

You may want to challenge older children to duplicate the building structure using window markers on the window.

Place a large tub of magnetic shapes near a window.
Ask the children to work together to build tall structures against the window. Make sure there is a solid surface for the children to build upon.
When they are finished, discuss the effect sunlight has on the tiles.
You may want to have the children look at their structure from different angles, such as lying on the floor, etc.
