Lacing Patterns
An Activity for Preschoolers:
Create colorful, unique patterns to show off and share!

Before You Begin:
Gather a variety of lacing beads and strings. Make sure the holes in the beads are appropriate for the ages and abilities of the children.

Activity Goals:
To reinforce repeating pattern recognition.

Furthermore:
This activity is not a beginning pattern activity. Children should be able to easily recognize repeating patterns prior to creating their own pattern with this activity.

Remind children about how repeating patterns work and how to create them.
Allow the children to use their beads and string to create a repeating pattern.
Have the child tie the string to preserve the pattern. Children may also draw pictures of their patterns.
